Add an advanced option to set the type of counter. Not sure on the best names, but the equivalents I can think of are like counter and gauge metrics. Either you can add (or subtract) to the value, like a counter, which would show just the + button used now. Or you can set the value, like a gauge, which would show just the edit button used now.
